Did you know that Bayport Marina Association is a certified Minnesota Clean Marina?
We are one of the founding members of the Minnesota Clean Marina Initiative!
“The Clean Marina Initiative is a voluntary, incentive-based program that encourages marina operators and recreational boaters to protect the water quality by engaging in environmentally sound operating and maintenance procedures.
The Minnesota Clean Marina Program offers information, guidance, and technical assistance to marina operators, local governments, and recreational boaters on Best Management Practices (BMPs) that can be used to prevent or reduce pollution.
Minnesota marinas that are certified in the Clean Marina Program are recognized for their environmental stewardship and obtain authorization to use the Minnesota Clean Marina logo.
Next time you visit a marina, look for our flag!”
Our General Manager and CMM Cliff Lewis was on the Founding Taskforce and remains as one of the Board of Directors. The program’s objectives are:
“Reduced pollution from marine re-lated sewage, gray-water, stormwater runoff, hull and engine maintenance, antifreeze, ship and boat cleaning activi-ties, petroleum spills, ship emissions, bilge and ballast water discharges, fish wastes and marine debris.
Protection and restoration of fish and wildlife habitats through better marina and harbor design and habitat enhancement measures.
Improved aesthetics and public safety in adjacent coastal waters.
An informed shipping, boating and fishing public that help to prevent pollution and the spread of aquatic nuisance species and diseases.
Cleaner and healthier MN waters, beaches and habitats.
Economic benefits from reduced waste handling and disposal costs, reduced liability and insurance rates, enhanced public image and visitation rates, potentially greater revenues from marina rental fees, and reduced potential for environmental violation fines.”
